In mid to late September when we precondition our calves, we also weigh all of the cows and calves. We then calculate a projected 205-day weight for the calves. We do not adjust this for the age of the dam. The table below shows this year’s average weights by age of dam. We expect this group of bred heifers to grow up to be similarly sized to our existing herd. The quality of grass and the bull selection at their new home will of course impact these numbers.
