As calves, our heifers receive 2 rounds of vaccinations just like the steers. After weaning they spend around 3 weeks in a lot until they are eating grain and settled in. They then are turned out on grass for the winter and supplemented with hay as needed and 2-3 lbs of grain. Around calving time they head back to a lot until the grass is ready and they’re turned out for the summer. As part of our replacement program these heifers have had the following:
